Top trail runners and mountain runners will meet in the Zell am See-Kaprun region from 23 to 26 July 2026. To do what? Running, of course. And that around Austria's highest mountain. Into the fascinating world of the Hohe Tauern National Park, covering 110 km and over 6,500 altitude metres, past 14 glaciers, through 3 federal states and past 300 three-thousand-metre-high peaks. With a choice of up to 5 different competitions, the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail will once again be among the top trail running events in the Alps in 2026.

Five trail running competitions

In addition to the complete circumnavigation of Austria's highest mountain, the Grossglockner, during the Grossglockner Ultra-Trail GGUT there are four other competitions to choose from. The Grossglockner Trail GGT from Kals am Grossglockner covers 57 km and 3,500 altitude metres along the Grossglockner through the beautiful Dorfertal valley to the Kaprun glacier world. On the Weißsee Glacier World Trail GWT, participants cover 37 km and 1,500 altitude metres and ‘run’ along beautiful trails in the Weißsee Glacier World. On the Osttirol Trail OTT, participants run 84 km, covering 5,000 altitude metres, and enjoy the most beautiful parts of the Glockner Group. And the Kaprun Scenic Trail KST, with 16 km and 1,000 altitude metres, offers an introduction to alpine trail running. There are also two competitions for children: the Mini GGUT - powered by Osttirol in Kals and the Kids Trail Kaprun.

Whichever you choose, one thing is certain: all routes lead through the amazing landscape of the Hohe Tauern National Park. You will mainly be running at over 2,000 metres above sea level with high passes over 2,500 metres. Technical proficiency and experience as a runner in high mountains are required.
