SALTY Trailrunning Why SALTY, GGUT and Zell am See-Kaprun?
SALTY Trailrunning and Grossglockner Ultra-Trail (GGUT) are joining forces with Zell am See-Kaprun in 2026. At first, they seem like two different worlds – alpine racing on one side, storytelling, and community on the other. But they share the same DNA: a passion for mountains, authenticity and a culture that breathes endurance.
GGUT is one of Europe's best-known alpine ultra trails. Every July, it attracts thousands of trail runners and fans to Kaprun. SALTY Trailrunning is an independent trail running collective that captures all facets of the sport – through races, magazines, podcasts, films, and community events. Together, they have formed a partnership that goes far beyond a single race weekend.
In cooperation with the Zell am See-Kaprun tourism region, the goal is clear: to further develop the event. To build the future without cutting off the roots. On the contrary – to honour traditions and all those who have brought GGUT to where it is today.
The collaboration generates camps, community events, exclusive print and audio content, and broader coverage before, during and after the race.
For trail runners, this means
not only world-class racing, but also even deeper access to the trail running culture that surrounds it.
For GGUT, this means:
greater international reach, reinforced by SALTY's distinctive voice and global distribution.
For SALTY Trailrunning, this means:
anchoring one of the great alpine classics in its own seasonal flow – between stories, events, and membership experiences.
All three partners share the same vision:
Trail running is more than just a sport. It's a culture. It's a community. It's stories.
This collaboration ensures that the spirit of GGUT will live on long after the last participant has crossed the finish line.
